Sept. 8, 2015: Camp George Rocks!
Date of stay: 8/22/15 to 8/29/15
My family of 4 (kids 13 and 17) absolutely fell in love with "Camp George". Perfect lakeside location, quaint moose-themed decor, comfy beds, huge enclosed porch, complimentary s'mores on the fire pit, sandy area near the dock, 82 degree water temp, and tons of watercraft. We all got to explore the lake together in the 4 kayaks, canoe, paddle boat and pontoon boat. Most days we were alone on the lake. It was like having our own private peaceful retreat. Saw the eagle several times and a loon. We took a couple of short trips to the Old Port section of Portland, Portland Head Light, Sebago Lake and hiked up Douglas Mountain and were rewarded with a 360 degree view of the surrounding lakes and even Mt. Washington. The cottage is spotless and has all the modern conveniences. Even before our visit, the owners were most gracious in answering questions about the rental. They welcomed us on our first day and kindly showed us around. They also supplied tons of very helpful information regarding the cottage and nearby restaurants/attractions. There is no shortage of things to do, but if you want to relax, I would take a quiet paddle on the lake or a snooze in the hammock. There is something for everyone. We enjoyed our first vacation in Maine. The only bad part was that we had to leave. Can't wait to visit "Camp George" again! Thank you George & Audrey for generously sharing your cottage.

Jul 25, 2015: Excellent facilities
Date of stay: 7/18/15 to 7/25/15
We loved Camp George! A lot more than we were expecting, a huge amount of information with detailed maps of how to get to each of the recommended restaurants or attractions. The children were straight out in the kayaks as soon as we arrived. We were lucky enough to see bald eagles from the canoe and having early evening drinks on the pontoon was a joy. Had an electric storm one evening and sat in the porch with the lights out and watched an amazing spectacle. Mr. Vargish (George) is a lovely man to deal with and nothing is too much trouble. Thank you for a fantastic week! (travelers from UK)

My husband, our two sons and I just spent a wonderful week at Camp George! Camp was very cozy and comfortable. The guys spent hours fishing and caught 4 Bass ranging from 16-18 inches along with lots of perch. Very peaceful and relaxing. Finished porch overlooking lake was a great place to hang out, have dinner and read!! Rented the pontoon boat for two days which the boys loved!! Owner George Vargish was very helpful and accommodating!

Oct. 20, 2015: Great Lake Cottage!
Date of stay: 10/3/15 to 10/10/15
We had a wonderful week at Camp George! The cabin is spotless, so comfortable, and has everything anyone could possibly need for an active (pontoon, kayaks, canoe) or relaxing (hammock, comfortable chairs outside, fire pit) for watching the world go by vacation. There was so much information provided about the area, from activities to restaurants, etc. There were games, DVD movies, outdoor games provided. The enclosed porch was wonderfully bright and provided a perfect view of Lake Arrowhead. We went to the apple orchard pumpkin patch and had a great time. Took day trips to the Fryeburg Fair, Portland, and Freeport. It was a beautiful week at a great camp! Thank you, George and Audrey for making this a perfect place for a wonderful getaway.

August 5, 2017: Fantastic, well equipped, cozy, clean, perfect location and George was wonderful!
Date of Stay: July 30, 2017 to August 5, 2017
Larry and I spent our honeymoon at Camp George. We entered a clean and cozy cottage. On the counter was a personalized gift basket welcoming us. We immediately sat down and went through all the informational material, binders full of what to do, how to do it, where to go and every question answered. We rented the pontoon boat, which was truly fantastic and fun way to explore the lake. Every day we had lunch on the boat. We also used the paddle boat, canoe, and kayaks. We saw eagles, blue heron and loons. The town of Cornish is a short drive away and absolutely charming. We visited the Friendly River Music store which is guitar heaven! Camp George is 48 minutes from Portland if you want to go to the ocean. We hiked Sawyer Ridge, wear bug spray and good hiking shoes. We really enjoyed our stay and especially our host, George who made our stay especially fun and pleasant. Many thanks, George!

July 18, 2016: Lovely cottage, relaxing, but with enough activity options!
Date of stay: 7/9/16 to 7/16/16
We had a very nice stay at Camp George, from the moment we arrived when there were s'mores ingredients and a nice note welcoming us. The cottage was clean and lovely, and actually was nicer than it looked in the pictures! Lots of space, indoors and out, for relaxing, playing and having fun. The guide of local activities was terrific. We went disc golfing, a fun and cheap activity that we otherwise wouldn't have tried! We had a wonderful week, reconnecting as a family! I would definitely recommend staying at Camp George!

August 2, 2017: Fantastic Vacation at Camp George
Date of Stay: July 22, 2017 to July 30, 2017
We had a great time on our 2nd visit to Camp George. The cottage is clean and has all the creature comforts including a gift basket of s'mores for roasting on the fire. The lake is nice and quiet and easily explored on the 4 kayaks, canoe, paddle boat and pontoon boat. Caught lots of fish and saw eagles while kayaking. Being centrally located between the mountains and the beach, we enjoyed the fabulous ride to the top of Mt. Washington in New Hampshire on the cog railway. Awesome - even our teens loved it. Visited the Old Port section of Portland and enjoyed hiking in wildlife reserves near and along the ocean. Highly recommend the Portland Head lighthouse. Mostly, we just enjoyed the serenity and beauty of the surroundings and made great family memories. Thank you George and Audrey for generously sharing your slice of paradise. We look forward to a 3rd visit!

Aug 8, 2015: Wonderful place to stay
Date of stay: 8/8/15 to 8/22/15
Camp George was a very memorable experience for me and my family. The cottage itself was meticulous and well organized. It also included a greeting basket welcoming our arrival with a kit to make s'mores. George was excellent to work with and has a great set-up for exploring the lake. We ended up renting his pontoon boat and caught a ton of bass. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking to get away from it all!

July 16, 2017: Relaxed vacation on the lake
Date of stay: July 1, 2017 to July 8, 2017
We visited Maine for the first time In July 2017 and had a blast. We chose Camp George due to the location directly on the lake and all the amenities provided. The only thing we regretted was not staying longer.
We had never kayaked, canoed, or driven a pontoon boat before and we did all of the above, as well as swimming in the warm water! George kindly provided everything we needed - even down to mosquito repellant!
Despite the peaceful lakeside woodland location there are 2 supermarkets within a 10 minute drive in Limerick. The cabin is carefully tended for and everything worked flawlessly.
We were lucky enough to meet George who drove over (on the 4th of July!) just to show us around the controls of the pontoon boat as I was a bit apprehensive. It was really nice to chat with him, and the boat was really easy to control after his expert tuition.
We hope to be back soon! (travelers from Scotland)

September 8, 2016: Another great week at Camp George!
Date of stay: August 21, 2016 to August 28, 2016
This is our second year staying at Camp George and once again, we had a blast. It's a nice little home away from home. Our two kids (7 & 4) love staying here and immediately asked when we were coming back again. This year we discovered Love Island while canoeing. A must find if you're planning on staying. There's a rope swing and great fishing. We always look forward to coming back. Thank you again, Camp George for giving our family a great space for a truly relaxing vacation.

July 30, 2017: Awesome!! The best!! A++++
Date of Stay: July 15, 2017 to July 22, 2017
The cottage was awesome!! On our arrival we noticed how clean and nicely decorated it was. There were no problems finding things or answering any questions we had - there were notebooks with instructions and tons of pamphlets for activities and sightseeing. The furniture was very well taken care of and the mattresses and pillows were ultra comfortable. There were no people in the nearby cottages so it was very private. And the fishing was great!! Every time you threw the line in you got a bite. The one thing we didn't care for was the for rent weekly sign in the cove by the lake. There was one up by the road, understandably so, but the one by the lake hindered the view. We's probably buy this place if it was for sale though!

Sep 2, 2015: Very nice lake cottage!
Date of stay: 8/1/15 to 8/8/15
Thank you so much for opening your lake house to rentals. The cottage is incredibly clean and well organized. The kitchen is stocked with all the dishes and pots and pans you can imagine. The bedrooms are comfortable and the ability to use the futon on the porch was so nice. However the best part about the rental is the location directly on the water with its own dock. The sandy beach was perfect for children swimming and the dock was fun to jump off of too. Thank you for providing the kayaks as both kids are now pros! The lake itself is peaceful and quiet so kayaking was just perfect. We even saw a pair of golden eagles on one of our paddles. Thank you! Highly recommended!
Camp George was amazing. I can not say enough about the kindness of the owner or the beauty of the property. The pictures do not do it justice. We had plenty of space indoors, with my boyfriend, teenage daughter & her friend, & 2 senior citizens. The house was perfect & the outdoor fun was even better. Plenty of outdoor toys for fun or relaxation. We explored the lake, found the eagles & their nest, & had a day at Love Island playing on the rope swing in the water & catching some fish. We had good luck with bass, perch, blue gills, & crappie fishing in the cove from the dock, from the kayaks, & out on the pontoon boat. We also enjoyed 2 short day trips to both Portland (Eventide has the best food) & Boothbay harbor, where we enjoyed a puffin cruise. There is so much to do or enjoy doing nothing at all in the tranquility of this beautiful camp. The only problem we encounter was that we couldn't stay forever. My family can not wait to return.

We had a wonderful week at Camp George. The kayaks and paddle boat were used daily! The kids splashed in the gradual entry water at the dock and we swam at the beach down the road. The owner clearly puts a lot of effort to make sure we had a nice stay, which we appreciated.

July 17, 2017: PARADISE at Camp George
Date of Stay: July 8, 2017 to July 14, 2017
Had a great time at Camp George. George could not have been more pleasant and accommodating. George goes above and beyond to make you feel comfortable and feel as if this was your place during your stay. Fishing was great and in the cove, I caught Northern Pike, Perch, Blue Gills/Sunnies and Large Mouth Bass. Everything you needed and more was there for you and then some, both inside and outside the cabin. The only problem I had was, I wish I could capture the time back I had from falling asleep in the hammock (LOL). So peaceful and relaxing even when I was awake. Thank you George for everything and looking forward to next years return...... Joe n Carol Centereach, New York

Aug 25, 2015: Fantastic Lakeside Getaway!
Date of stay: 8/15/15 to 8/22/15
We can't say enough about how much we loved Camp George. The cottage was perfect for our family of 4, but could easily work for a family of 6. All of the amenities you need are available. The kids loved the S'mores kit that awaited us upon arrival. We didn't rent the pontoon boat this time around, but definitely got our use of just hanging out and jumping off of it. We canoed, we fished, we splashed, we played, we sat by the fire and made S'mores, we relaxed, and most importantly we had a wonderful time together as a family. We also got to make use of the Lake Arrowhead clubhouse, which was perfect on our one and only rainy day. The cottage is located in a little cove off the larger part of the lake, which was so nice, quiet and quaint. The neighbors around us were so friendly. The kids (and us as well) didn't want to leave. George was so easy to work with and provided every detail about the cabin and surrounding areas. We are already looking forward to our next vacation here at Camp George! Thank you again!!!

March 23, 2016: Comfortable cottage, beautiful location.
Date of stay: 3/13/16 to 3/19/16
My wife and I stayed at Camp George for a week in March 2016. The cottage is a beautiful and cozy. And the owners are great hosts, they provided us with all the amenities and information that we needed to have a great week in Maine. We stayed in Early spring, so we did not do many outdoor activities near the lake, but I imagine in the summer that many of your hour will be spent outside. The location is perfect and opportunities are endless. 45 minutes to Portland and 45 minutes to Kennebunkport. You can still take your family for day trips or dinners. The drive is easy and scenic. And you can retreat into the woods on the lake for a fire at night. I will stay here again, and I will recommend this property to anyone.
